A: BB Creams were originally “skin correcting” creams overseas. In the USA, the term has come to generally refer to an all-in-one beauty option, typically referring to a complexion correcting base (ie. foundation or tinted moisturizer) containing a sunscreen and complexion correcting component, such as antioxidants, vitamins, or moisturizers. They are a fab and convenient on-the-go option for busy women everywhere, and certainly the SPF component is reason enough to reach for a BB cream when time doesn’t allow for individual product application. Just remember that the SPF in a BB cream is usually a lower level of protection that isn’t suitable for heavy sun exposure (ie. a day at the beach), and a separate sunscreen is therefore required to ensure adequate protection from the sun’s harmful rays.
